I’m pleased to report that there will not be any sale of the Waverley Bus Depot site or airspace above it, and I have received assurances that the site will not be redeveloped.

I do not believe that any development on the site can co-exist with its use as a bus depot, therefore I asked the Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian to abandon any call for expressions of interest for the site.

I believe that the majority of Bondi Junction residents do not want a development on the site, which could potentially diminish the residential amenity of the local area and compromise the function of the bus depot, which houses Eastern Suburbs buses.

I realise there is great community concern about the idea of a redevelopment, spurred on by the West Oxford Street Precinct Plan project currently being undertaken by Waverley Council which has sought to gather public opinion about the future of the western end of Bondi Junction.

Residents can rest assured that no development will take place on the Waverley Bus Depot site, and I will always campaign against moves to overdevelop local communities.
